A South Florida Cancer Survivor's Perspective
October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month slips away soon, but for me and millions of others, the awareness, constant reality and fear doesn’t leave.
Long before I ever held a key to a client's dream home as a South Florida Real Estate Agent, I held onto hope as a cancer survivor. Cancer strips away the superficial and it focused me on what truly matters: health, loved ones, inner strength and sheer will. That is what kept me going and taught me resilience in the face of uncertainty.
Cancer is everywhere and the battle is fought year-round, at home, in doctors' offices, on treatment tables, within the hearts of survivors and their families, I’ve seen it so often in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach, because I live in South Florida.
This November, and every month that follows, I encourage you to carry the spirit of October forward:
1. Prioritize Your Health: Schedule a screening & follow through. Early detection is a game-changer.
2. Be a Lifeline: Support doesn't require a pink ribbon. Try offering a meal, a listening ear, or offer to drive to an appointment.
3. Know You Are Not Alone: To my fellow survivors in South Florida and beyond: your strength inspires me daily. We are a community of fighters.
Some may say I care too much, but….what is too much? My personal journey is woven into my professional life. It's why I approach my work as a Real Estate Agent with deep empathy and an unwavering commitment to my client's future.
